Cleanplates Theme; By Suicidalkatt
Tidy Plates   Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Tidy Plates ... enhances the Blizzard nameplates, enabling graphical and functional improvements.

By default, the appearance is simple, but you can quickly customize the appearance by downloading one of the many themes. See the Optional Files section for pre-made themes, and for the development sample.

If you're looking for something slick, check out the Knurl theme, or Cleanplates (A clean, minimalist theme from Suicidalkatt).

Features found in the various themes:
  • Threat/Unit Dependent Nameplate Art
  • Class Icons
  • Health Text
  • Dynamic Opacity
  • Threat Coloring

Common Questions:

How can I get Feature X? Check the various themes; The Tidy Plates engine allows for some pretty clever manipulation of the nameplates, beyond what the author originally conceived.

What about a GUI for customization? It's something that I've talked about doing, but haven't gotten the time. I HAVE made it practical to design an addon that links to Tidy Plates, so hopefully this feature will finally get introduced. If you're interested in helping in the development, send me a private message, or check out the readme.txt file.

Can you increase the range of the nameplates? Not yet! 3.3, baby!

What's this Threat Glow thing?
The default nameplate from Blizzard will highlight (with a red glow) mobs that are attacking you. However, sometimes it's nice to have a positive indication of when they're attacking someone else. (I'm looking at you, tanks)

The default coloring (Can be modified by simply editing some numbers in a LUA file):
Greenish Yellow: Low threat, Not attacking you.
Yellow: High threat, but not yet attacking.
Red: Aggro, Attacking you.

The threat graphic will also change, depending on the unit: Elite units are designed with a bolder appearance, helping you to differentiate the Elites within a pack of mixed mobs.

I don't think there's a way to change the coloring that Blizzard's engine uses. Certainly, you can change the vertex color of the statusbar widget, but there's a chance that Blizzard's code will update the widget and revert the color.

Is it the intensity of red that's objectionable? You could play with the brightness of the statusbar image, which would adjust the intensity of the color (but not the actual color). You could even make it black, similar to atrNameplates, if you wanted.

The memory penalty of adding another widget (and, more importantly, the processing penalty) wouldn't be excessive, especially considering all the other things that are going on.

Would be cool if you added that, but how much more memory usage would that add? There isnt a way you can just change the general hostile coloring? by tidyplates or any other addon?

Eventually, I WOULD like to have some in-game options. It would probably be a theme chooser, rather than a theme editor, however.

It's IS quite possible for a theme author to implement their own in-game editing, and using the Tidy Plates LoadTheme() function to update the changes.

Re: Changing the hostile color

Hey! Glad you like it :-)

Unfortunately, changing the default color of the statusbars is something that Tidy Plates can't do, at the moment; The program depends on the color of that statusbar to glean certain information about the unit. One solution (one that I'd have to implement) is: hide the default statusbar, using it only for information, and adding a new statusbar widget which would be controlled by Tidy Plates. It's something that I may get around to implementing..

I do have one slight request though...I would like to change the 'hostile' color away from red, red is just a little bit too hostile for me ;P

i'm using TidyPlates_Cleanplates if it does any difference.

In fact, everything is working as intended; There shouldn't be any options in the interface window, since I haven't implemented any. All the options are carried by the current theme. Tidy Plates is very similar to oUF, providing a backbone for designers to create their own.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Cast Bar problems ?

Glad to hear!

Your question is one that I've been dreading to hear; When I started toying with addon development, I decided that I only wanted to deal with updating one site. The community on WowInterface seemed more positive and helpful, and the site was (and still is) much cleaner, so I chose this site as my home.

That said, making it available on Curse would boost exposure, since it's a hugely popular site. However, I keep coming back to my primary goal: Develop an addon that I use. After that, my goals are to make those addons available so that the Wow community can enjoy them, and support that community of users. More importantly, I feel the need to support creators like yourself. Having Tidy Plates available on Curse would make it easier for you to support your own addon (which looks great, btw) on Curse.

The simple answer is: I'll think about it. Honestly, I've shot down the idea several times when I pitched it to myself, but I think that it deserves a second/third/fourth thought.

Re x 10: Cast Bar problems ?

Unfortunately, Threat percentage isn't something that the Blizzard nameplates can tell us. In fact, there's no way - aside from clever processing/guesswork - of linking a nameplate and a mob. Even Omen doesn't track AoE threat anymore. Aloft is very clever, in this regard, but the results may not be accurate.

The solution that I've been using to track AoE threat is by displaying threat of a mouseover in the tooltip (that's another addon, however).

I'll post the update tomorrow, after I've had a chance to test it a little bit, and make sure that it works fine.

Also, in regards to a secondary special text, it doesn't necessarily have to activated by cast or something to that nature, just another text field for say additional text with different alignment and placement.
